About

Armistice Day is a special day for Ypres. Every year, the Poppy Parade and the Last Post at 11 a.m. are permanent ingredients in a broader program commemorating the end of WWI.

In the afternoon of this annual commemoration day, the city of Ypres and the In Flanders Fields Museum also want to pay attention to civilian victims: Ypres residents who died during or as a result of WWI, but also civilians who lost their lives during other wars or conflicts. This year, this special commemoration will be organized in collaboration with Handicap International, an international NGO that takes care of victims of war in some 50 countries today.

Program

  • Welcome word on behalf of the city council
  • Brief explanation of the commemorative concept "The Lost Key / La Clé Perdue"
  • City walk with focus on the civilian casualties of Ypres by Pieter Trogh
